Information for 2010-2011
The Sacred Sabbats Yarn Club revolves around the eight Sabbats: holy days or festivals celebrated during the Wheel of the Year by many types of Pagans, especially Wiccans.
Each Sabbat has a theme, with a Goddess or God often attached to the theme. The Goddess or God I choose for the installment may or may not be traditionally associated with the particular Sabbat, but will still be related in some way to either the Sabbat or the season in which the Sabbat lies. The colourways chosen for the installment will be related to either the Sabbat or the Goddess/God attached to the installment.
There will be two yarn choices for each installment, plus usually (though perhaps not every one) a spinning fibre option available. The yarns will usually be different weights from each other (one sport, the other lace, etc.). Multiple skeins will be available for purchase – say you wish to buy two skeins of worsted merino, there is a drop-down menu for each product listed that will add the cost of additional skeins. For three or more additional skeins, it’s best to contact me to let me know how many you need, and we can get a price, including shipping, set up. Also, it is possible to order more than one type of installment, like one of the Pales Sock, and two skeins of the Single Ply Merino worsted.
**New, starting this autumn, there will be two sock yarn options added to the two yarn choices. They will be the "Basic Sock" (Pales Sock yarn) and the "Luxury Sock" (Heithrun or Kuan-Yin Sock yarn).
There will also be a choice of colourways for each installment, like a solid or semi-solid, and a variegated. You can decide on the yarn base and if you want the solid/semi-solid or variegated version of the colourway. The spinning fibre will likely only have one option.
Patterns are going to be included in some, but not all installments. The prices of the yarns have a few dollars added for those patterns, that the designers might be paid for their work. Patterns will not be mailed physically with the yarn, but will be emailed to you in PDF format. The PDF files can be opened with Adobe Reader.
The colourways of the installments will not be exclusive to the SS Yarn Club, but won’t be released to the public for a minimum of three (3) months. The patterns are also to be released back to their designers once three (3) months have passed after the installment is sent out.
To keep the costs more focused on the yarn or spinning fibre, extras, like soap, chocolate, stitch markers or other trinkets, will not be included.
Shipping isn’t included in the cost of the installment. Just choose your shipping option as you would in a regular checkout. If you live locally (the city of
When ordering the yarn club installment, it’s best to purchase only that item in one transaction, to avoid shipping confusion. If you wish to purchase other items at the same time, and wish me to set aside the items, I can ship them out at the same time as the installment goes out. This may not be for several weeks, so if you don’t wish to wait for the other items, please purchase as a separate transaction.
Please note: you get to choose how many/what installments you will be paying for. This is an installment-by-installment club, not one where you have to commit for a whole year, or six or even three months at a time. This allows you to have freedom to pass on an installment that doesn't catch your fancy, but then go for the next one or two that do. Why end up with yarn you don't really like?
A final note of import: When you buy/sign-up for an installment, it will not be shipped out right away, but closer to when the Sabbat for the installment is. Say you bought some yarn for the Autumn Equinox on August 2nd, your order will not be shipped out/available for local pick-up until close to the Autumn Equinox (Sept 21st), in this case, September 15th. I like to open the sign-ups for installments four to six weeks ahead of the actual shipping, to give people time to sign up.
If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please use the “Contact” button at the far right end of the main menu.
